ICC focuses on the whole living environment and development of the sponsored child. We work in 6 Key Development Areas: food security, health, learning, economic development, building relationships and community infrastructure. This is the best way to ensure the children will become valuable and contributing citizens in the communities they join after leaving ICC centres.

Tabitha is the tenth child to a poverty stricken family who loved her but could not care for her. ICC worker Glenda said she thought she had seen poverty but this little girl and her family's situation was worse than anything she had ever seen. Of the ten other children, three had sadly died. There was no food in the house and the children spent their day catching frogs, crabs and lizards to go with rice for a meal.

Update on Tabitha (11/7/05) Tabitha is the most beautiful, happy, contented child! At four and a half months she can roll over, pull herslf along on her stomach and put up her arms to be picked up. Her house mum is totally devoted to her and keeps her beautifully clean. She is in a house with mostly teenage siblings who give her lots of loving care and it is so lovely to see our boys gently carrying her around and cuddling her. It is very good for them too. Three of her cousins are already ICC children and they will be able to teach her about her birth family as she gets older. She was named by one of these cousins as he said for her to be able to come to ICC was like being raised from being dead - now she has a new life!
