Welcome to 'Light of Hope Children's Village' Cambodia

"Caring for orphans as though they were you."

Orphan Situation

Poverty, civil strife, land mines, disease and the AIDS pandemic are leaving thousands of children homeless in Cambodia.

ICC History
ICC was asked to take over an established orphan home in Samrong in July 1996 with 12 orphans. The home soon expanded to 20 orphans. This area was close to the last strong hold of the Khmer Rouge and most of our orphan children were orphaned as a result of their atrocities.

The orphans had to flee to refugee camps on the Thai border during civil strife in 1997. They then spent some time in rented facilities in Phnom Penh, the capital. In the same year homes were rented in Kampong Thom, central Cambodia to care for an additional 30 orphans.

In 1998 the Samrong orphans joined with the Kampong Thom orphans in the rented homes in Kampong Thom..

Near the end of 1998, 25 acres of land was purchased to establish the “Light of Hope Children’s Village” in Kampong Thmar, just south of Kampong Thom. The children moved to this property in January of 2000.

Currently, there are five children’s homes with a further two almost completed; a meeting place, an ICC elementary & secondary school, 4 staff houses, a chicken industry, agricultural center, orchards, vegetable and cropping land; a brick making industry and a sewing vocational training center.
