Welcome to 'Light of Hope Children's Village' Cambodia

"Caring for orphans as though they were you."

There are many people from all over the world who use their skills to do short-term volunteer work at Light of Hope Village. Some of the more recent volunteers have included: builders, brick layers, dentists, nurses, a physiotherapist, teachers, welders and mechanics.

Errol and Glenda Menkens, from Queensland, Australia, have been volunteering at Light of Hope Village since September 2004. They will return to Australia for a short break in July, before returning to Cambodia for one more year.

Errol is a master builder and has been responsible for the extensive building program, including two new children’s homes.

Glenda is a trained teacher and has spent the majority of her time taking English classes at ICC School. She has also been assisting with the agricultural program, teaching propagation and best-practice agriculture skills.

Fly 'n Build

Teams build, paint, teach, help in the classrooms, dig, cook, help in maintaining the grounds and assist where they can to help build much needed industry and vocational training centres and homes.

Together, our staff, children and Fly 'n Build volunteers work; transferring skills; sharing culture and friendship. Each team spends a lot of time with the children sharing in fun and games and sports activities.

All materials for building projects and maintenance are funded from project sponsors.

If you are interested in this area of service, please feel free to contact us for more information.
