International Children's Care Inc Australia (ICC) is a Christian development organisation based in Australia. ICC provides holistic care for orphaned, abandoned, and destitute children, seeking to empower them to integrate back into their communities as self sufficient adults.
Through measures of prevention, ICC works with families and whole communities to reduce the incidence of orphaned and abandoned children living in destitution by increasing capacity in health, education, micro finance, micro enterprise, and other developmental interventions.
ICC Australia operates in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and China. We work with local partners to empower families and entire communities by increasing capacity in health, education, micro finance, agriculture, and micro enterprise. Strong families are able to care for their children.
ICC works with families, both nuclear and extended, to ensure that children suffering the loss of parents are in the best possible environment. When local communities and extended families are unable to care for a child, ICC provides a caring family environment within a Children's Village. Loving local house-parents nurture and care for the children in Village homes.
Through empowered communities and strengthened families, the lives of children are secured.
Many NGO's and charitable organisations work within communities to build and empower the entire community. ICC is working to do the same but places particular emphasis on the family. ICC strongly believes that the best place for a child to live and develop is within a family. When their family support fails (through sickness, death or abandonment) the extended family is the next level of care to secure the child's future. When there is no extended family, the local community is a familiar place where the child can be secure, provided a family can be located to care for the child. ICC can offer a home-based care service to help meet this need. And when none of these family environments are available, ICC provides a home in a family-focussed Children's Village.
It is the focus on the family that differentiates ICC.
